This is to announce that as of December 2012 Spyros Kasimatis, PgD, MA, MBA is a member of the United World Colleges National Committee of Greece.
The United World College of the Atlantic was founded as the first International Baccalaureate Diploma school in 1962 by Kurt Hahn, the highly influential educator of the 20th century. Today there are 13 UWColleges and more than 3.500 IB schools worldwide.
The UWC National Committee of Greece selects Greek students of 16-17 and funds their IB Diploma studies in a UWCollege. Recently selected candidates are studying at present in St Donat's Castle, near Cardiff, in Duino, near Trieste, and in Mostar, in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The picture above depicts the bridge uniting the Bosniak quarter with the Catholic quarter over the Neretva, the river cutting across Mostar, in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The bridge can serve as a symbol of the effort and the goodwill it takes to reunite people viciously torn apart in bloody civil war twenty years ago. The United World College of Mostar was established with this purpose in mind.
